Q. What information do you look for in an asset search?
a. (Businesses and people) Real property ownership. If we determine that your party owns real property we attempt to determine, based on comparable sales, the approximate value of the property and approximately how much is owed against the property.
b. (People) Employment. We attempt to determine where the subject works, his or her job title and his or her income.
c. (Businesses and people) Business Interests. We check fictitious filings to determine if the subject is registered as being an owner of or partner in any business enterprises. We check with the Secretary of States Office to see if the subject is registered as being an officer, registered agent, general partner or managing member for any corporations, limited partnerships or limited liability companies.
d. (Businesses and people) Brokerage accounts. We attempt to determine if the subject maintains an open street account with any brokerage companies and if so, what is contained in the accounts.
e. (Businesses and people) Bank Accounts (Note: We do not search for I.R.A.s, 401(K) or other types of retirement accounts.)
f. (Businesses and people) Tax Liens, judgments, notices of default, and bankruptcies.
g. (Businesses) Uniform Commercial Code filings
Q. Do you guarantee to find assets?
A. No. Some businesses are out of business or going out of business and not everyone has assets. Additionally, some businesses or people have their assets hidden so well that not even we can find them. However, we believe that if we can not find assets no one else will find them either.
Q. What information do you need in order to perform an asset search?
A. The business or subject's name and something to identify the business or subject such as any one of or combination of the following: address or last known address, type of business, social security number or federal id number, date of birth, drivers license, spouses name, business affiliation, type of case or claim.
The more information you provide the better.
Q. Are clients required to pay in advance for asset searches?
A. No. As attorneys and members of the bar, attorneys are not required to pay in advance.

Q. How does Hallstrom obtain asset information?
A. We use a variety of data base services, public record sources, our own proprietary data bases, our own private sources and by contacting various individuals and entities connected with the subject.
Q. How long does an average asset search take?
A. An average asset search is completed in one (1) to two (2) weeks.
